Our Team of Counselors & Staff
Hello, I'm McKenzie Cicero
I am passionate about working with couples and individuals. Though I work with a variety of client concerns, I specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ persons, current and retired military, and those struggling with eating disorders. I provide clients with an accepting and supportive environment to explore their needs and create a personalized plan for improving overall well-being. I empower clients to find greater enjoyment in their life and relationships.
Based on your needs, I create an environment for your success and use treatment modalities that best meet your needs. I have experience providing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), as well as psychodynamic therapy. With couples, I use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) techniques and help couples improve overall communication. My goal in therapy is to create a safe space that enables clients to explore difficult feelings and help increase their resilience and sense of self.
I completed my Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling from Point Loma Nazarene University and a Bachelor in Psychology and Criminal Justice from SUNY The College at Brockport. Previously I was in the United States Marine Corps. After seeing the need for increased mental health services for those serving in the military, I decided to pursue a degree in counseling. I am currently a counselor under supervision as I pursue my license in the state of Georgia. My work experience includes working at an eating disorder residential treatment facility in California.
Recently I moved to Savannah from California with my spouse who is from this area. I am thrilled to be part of Water’s Edge Counseling and honored to work alongside such extraordinary professionals who serve the community so well.

Hello, I'm Emma Keady
I am a compassionate and dedicated therapist specializing in supporting children and adolescents through life's challenges. I work collaboratively with young clients and their families to help them navigate emotional, behavioral, and social difficulties.
Using evidence-based modalities, I adjust treatment plans to each individual's situation. I also make it a priority for my therapeutic techniques to be strength-based and trauma-informed. With a focus on creating a safe, nonjudgmental space, I empower my clients to build resilience, improve coping strategies, and enhance their mental and emotional well-being. I also work closely with parents and caregivers, offering support and guidance to ensure lasting positive outcomes for the family.
I graduated from The George Washington University with my Bachelor’s in Psychological and Brain Sciences. I went on to receive my Master’s in Social Work and licensure as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in South Carolina and Georgia. I moved to Savannah shortly after school and have been loving this city ever since!
My career began in community social work, where I focused on fostering positive change and building sustainable partnerships by connecting underserved neighborhoods across South Carolina with vital resources and support. I also have experience working with children and protective caregivers who have experienced abuse, grief, or other trauma. I am also passionate about working with people affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder both as a behavioral therapist and as a graduate assistant in a research lab.
Here at Waters Edge Counseling, I hope to hone my skills as a therapist and will be working towards my clinical license while under supervision. I am thrilled to be joining a team of experienced and dedicated counselors!
Hello, I'm Kiara Steele
I love to help children, teenagers, and adults work through life’s challenges and struggles. With a compassionate approach, I help clients identify their pain while also providing an empathic response. I enjoy providing the tools and support needed to work through emotion. In addition to working with individuals, I teach couples necessary skills to improve their communication and ability to support one another in their relationship.
My background is in working mostly with children and families. Oftentimes parents need extra support and direction as their children and loved ones sort through their struggles. I not only treat the client but also help the family to find resources and skills to assist their child. Also, with a history of military service in my family, I have a special passion for working with those serving our country as well as their loved ones.
Based on the client’s presenting concern, I create a specific plan to address each problem. I give treatment based on the needs and age of the client. For example, I use play therapy techniques to help children resolve internal conflicts that create unwanted symptoms. I find that children and adolescents enjoy art therapy and storytelling to help accomplish treatment goals. With college students, I focus more on talk therapy and give specific skills to help face challenges. My goal in therapy is to create a safe space that enables clients to explore difficult feelings and help increase their resilience and sense of self.
I completed my Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida. The foundation of my work is Person-Centered, but I also use other therapeutic techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR). I am currently a counselor under supervision as I pursue my license in the state of Georgia. My work experience includes working in a mental health treatment center with children as well as leading groups for young adults.
I relocated from Florida to Savannah in 2024. I am excited to be part of Water’s Edge Counseling and honored to work alongside such extraordinary professionals who serve the community so well.
Hello, I'm Abbie Roy
I have a passion for assisting adults, children, teenagers, college students navigate through life’s transitions and struggles. Issues like trauma, anxiety, and depression are significant hurdles that young people often encounter, particularly during pivotal moments in their lives. My goal is to equip them with the necessary tools and support to manage their emotions effectively, empowering them to thrive in all aspects of life. Furthermore, I recognize the vital role that parental support plays during these times. Beyond individual therapy, I work collaboratively with families to provide resources and strategies that aid their children and loved ones in overcoming difficulties.
I tailor a treatment plan for each client, addressing their specific concerns and needs. This personalized approach may or may not include faith-based counseling. I recognize how religion may comfort one patient while triggering another. Therefore, I am happy to incorporate religion when it is desired by the individual and omit it when it is not.
Depending on the client's age and requirements, I employ various therapeutic approaches. For instance, I have extensive training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) for ages 6 and up. I also use CBT Solution-Focused Therapy to assist in resolving internal conflicts and alleviating symptoms. In essence, my therapeutic aim is to create a safe space for clients to delve into intricate emotions, nurturing resilience and strengthening their sense of self.
I was born and raised in Savannah, Georgia and am excited to be back helping my hometown community. I graduated from Auburn University with my Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I spent my practicum and internship at Prevail Counseling and Wellness in Auburn. The experience allowed me to gain an array of knowledge and serve others in the mental health community. Throughout my time obtaining my graduate degree, I have had the privilege of being very involved in a nonprofit organization called Esperanza House. This nonprofit serves the lower-income Hispanic population in Auburn. The organization offers advocacy, tutoring, healthcare, food and clothing distributions, and so much more to the families.
In conclusion, I have a lot of experience working with families and young people from diverse backgrounds. I am thrilled to join Water's Edge Counseling and feel privileged to collaborate with exceptional professionals dedicated to serving the community.
