Hello, I'm McKenzie Cicero
I am passionate about working with couples and individuals. Though I work with a variety of client concerns, I specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ persons, current and retired military, and those struggling with eating disorders. I provide clients with an accepting and supportive environment to explore their needs and create a personalized plan for improving overall well-being. I empower clients to find greater enjoyment in their life and relationships.
Based on your needs, I create an environment for your success and use treatment modalities that best meet your needs. I have experience providing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), as well as psychodynamic therapy. With couples, I use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) techniques and help couples improve overall communication. My goal in therapy is to create a safe space that enables clients to explore difficult feelings and help increase their resilience and sense of self.
I completed my Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling from Point Loma Nazarene University and a Bachelor in Psychology and Criminal Justice from SUNY The College at Brockport. Previously I was in the United States Marine Corps. After seeing the need for increased mental health services for those serving in the military, I decided to pursue a degree in counseling. I am currently a counselor under supervision as I pursue my license in the state of Georgia. My work experience includes working at an eating disorder residential treatment facility in California.
Recently I moved to Savannah from California with my spouse who is from this area. I am thrilled to be part of Water’s Edge Counseling and honored to work alongside such extraordinary professionals who serve the community so well.
