Lauren Shuman

Hello, I'm Lauren Shuman!

I enjoy working with adolescents, adults, and couples. I have over 11 years of clinical experience in a variety of settings such as in private practice and the school system. I am passionate about improving family relationships and overall quality of life. In my career, I have learned that therapy is most successful whenever it is a partnership between the therapist and the client.

While I have experience working with adolescents and young adults, I also enjoy working with couples and families. In my work with couples and families, I focus on communication and interpersonal skill-building to promote healthy and successful relationships. With all clients, I create a tailored treatment plan to meet one’s goals using a variety of techniques. I enjoy utilizing modalities such as Emotional Intelligence Theory, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioral Art Therapy.  My clinical experience ranges from working closely with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Conduct Disorders, Family Systems, and Couples.

I am a Licensed Associate Professional Counseling in the state of Georgia. I obtained my Master’s Degree in Counselor Education from Georgia Southern University in 2015. While working at Waters Edge Counseling as a counselor under supervision, I will also be working towards a Doctorate at Capella University. I have spent the last several years working in the school system and am excited to get back into private practice.
